I recently read an article by John C. Maxwell in which he says, “The only way to make time for your life is to make time for your life.” I thought that was interesting because it was so true. The problem is, we don’t have time to make time for our lives. We are all too busy doing things that we feel are important. But, if we do not make time for our lives, what will happen?

Our lives are like a big ocean with waves of activity coming at us from all directions. Some of these waves are very big and some are small. If we do not have a lifeguard, we will drown. The question is, “Do we want to be a lifeguard or do we want to drown?”

So, how do we make time for our lives? First, we must realize that we can’t just wish it into existence. We have to make time for our lives and this is how:

1) Prioritize.

What do you really want to do with your life? Are you willing to sacrifice other things to make time for your life? For example, if you want to travel, then you may have to give up other things such as watching television or playing video games.

2) Take action.

If you want to get out of debt, then you need to take action. You need to decide what you will do and then you need to take action to get it done. You cannot sit around wishing that you had the money to pay off your credit cards. You need to start making the payments. You need to decide what steps you are going to take and then take them.

3) Plan.

We need to plan ahead. This means planning our schedule. We need to set aside certain times in our day for specific activities. Then we need to make sure that we stick to that schedule. It is hard to do this sometimes, but it is important. If we don’t plan our lives, then we will never have time for our lives.

4) Be realistic.

There are only 24 hours in a day. We can’t make time for everything that we want to do. So, we need to prioritize our time. Make a list of everything that you want to accomplish. Then, look at your list and pick the top 5 things that you want to do. That way, you will have enough time to do those things.

5) Don’t be afraid to say no.

You need to make time for your life, but you also need to make time for other people. You need to say no to things that you don’t want to do. This doesn’t mean that you don’t help others. It means that you don’t help everyone.

6) Be intentional.

It is important that we make time for our lives. However, it is also important that we make time for God. In fact, it is important that we make time to spend with Him. There is no substitute for spending time with God.

7) Get rid of distractions.

If you want time for your life, then you need to get rid of distractions. If you want time for your life and to get things done, then you need to turn off your cell phone and stop talking on the phone. You need to focus on what you are doing and not what someone else is doing.

8) Don’t work longer than you need to.

Some people think that they need to work long hours to make money. They think that they need to work 40 or 50 hours a week to make ends meet. However, the truth is that working longer than you need to doesn’t make you more money. It actually makes you less money. The reason is that you are not being efficient with your time. You are spending more time on tasks that could be done faster and more efficiently.

9) Do what you love.

If you want more time for your life, then make time for your passions. Find something that you love to do and do it. If you love to play golf, then play golf. If you love to write, then write. If you love to cook, then cook. If you love to talk about sports, then talk about sports. If you love to read, then read. If you love to sing, then sing.

10) Make time for yourself.

Finally, we need to make time for ourselves. This means taking care of our health. If we are sick, then we are not able to do anything else. We need to exercise and eat healthy foods. We need to get enough sleep. We need to find time to relax.

The bottom line is that we can’t make time for our lives. The only way to make time for our lives is to make time for our lives.
