There’s nothing like a good grilled steak to bring people together and establish a strong connection.
Whether it’s being feasted on by friends and family or enjoyed by strangers on the street, one thing is for sure:
no one wants to go on a food retreat without tasting your best cut! A good steak is not the only thing that comes with a prime cut, however.
You also want to select a steak that is flavorful and tender enough to be able to sustain the heat of the grill.
This means that you want your steak to be marinated with enough flavor to stand up to the fire, but not so much that it turns into mush.

There are a few ways you can go to accomplish this goal, but two are the most common.

The first way is to add a bit of soy sauce or a touch of sugar to the steak prior to cooking. This is usually done on the griddle,

in the form of a sugar rub. This rub usually has a bit of horseradish mixed into it as well as lemon juice.
You want to make sure you don’t apply too much, as you want the steak to still be tender enough to roll it and be a bit flavorful.

The same goes for the soy sauce or lemon juice, as you don’t want too much flavor and you want the steak to be tough enough to resist the heat of the grill.

* The other way to cook your steak is through the direct heat of the grill. This is more effective than the grill method,

as the direct grill method concentrates heat onto the steak, rather than heat around the steak.
Another tip on cooking with direct heat is to take the time to watch the steak while it is cooking.
If you are flipping or rotating the steak often, it will be charred black and very unattractive.
This is not a steak you want to be turning over often. Instead, use the grill method for searing or rotating the steak.

For example, for medium rare you would use two minutes on each side, and for medium you would use four minutes on each side.

The most important thing you need to do when cooking a prime steak is to make sure you don’t overcook the steak.

The longer you cook a steak the more difficult it becomes to pull apart, so only cook it for as long as you need for you dish.
A good rule of thumb is to make sure you wait 10 minutes after you take off the grill for the steak to be fully cooked.

You should never add salt until after you have already started cooking the steak.

A prime steak should be cooked to an internal temperature of 120 degrees F. Don’t let the recipe tell you to cook it to 155 degrees F.

This is an unsafe temperature to cook a prime steak at as it puts your health at risk. The best way to cook a prime steak is to cook it at 160 degrees F.
You can cook your steak until it’s no longer pink inside and it’s a nice crispy dark brown finish, it should still be perfectly pink and very tender.
You can add seasoning to the steak after it’s already cooked, but you don’t need to do so until after it has already started cooking.

That’s the reason for the waiting time. It gives the seasoning time to penetrate the steak before you put it on the grill.

The key to cooking a prime steak, is to maintain a safe temperature. You don’t want to cook the steak to the point of burning,

but you also don’t want to cook it too long. As a general rule of thumb, you can cook a medium rare steak at 3 minutes on each side.

Another rule of thumb that you should use when cooking a prime steak is to maintain

a room temperature for 15 minutes after you take the steak from the grill.
After you grill the steak, you should maintain your work surface or surface area near the grill.
This helps you maintain the same temperature and also prevents your steak from reaching dangerous temperatures.

Your steak should also be cooked to an internal temperature of 140 degrees F.

A delicious way to make a prime steak even better, is to cook it with a barbecue rub.

A barbecue rub is basically a mixture of spices applied to the steak before you grill it. This helps break down
the proteins and turn your steak into a moist, tender masterpiece. You can buy barbecue rubs that have different herb and spices mixed in.
This is great for creating your own personal blend that will suit your taste buds.
You can buy barbecue rubs in different flavors, such as honey, hot and spicy, red and cut, and others.
To apply a barbecue rub to your steak, you should apply it liberally over the steak then turn the steak over and coat the other side.
Grill your steak for about 3 minutes on each side. You can also buy rubs that you can apply directly onto the meat.

These products are convenient and quicker than applying them onto the steak.

Barbecuing your steak is a fun way to cook steak but beware!

Be careful of flare ups or steam explosions! If you experience a steam explosion, stop grilling the steak immediately.

Contact with steam could result in burns if you are not wearing oven mitts or fire resistant clothing.
After your meat is cooked, you should remove it from the grill and let it rest before serving.
This allows the juices to settle and make your steak juicy and tender. You should serve your steak with a sauce or
side dish to compliment the wonderful taste of your grilled steak.
