Cup of coffeeAs a coffee lover, you may have come across the concept of java strength which determines how strong a cup of brewed coffee should be. It may come as a surprise to you that there is an actual measurement for java strength. You may have seen a brand say that their coffee is strong. That doesn’t make it really. There are a few factors that determines the strength of your brew.

Firstly, the type of beans you use.

They must be of a very good quality and very soluble in hot water. If they are not, then your strength will be reduced. Secondly, the brewing time which is the process of how long it takes for the water to boil. It is determined by the temperature of the water and the pressure created. Thirdly, the extraction time which is how long it takes for the coffee to be fully extracted by the coffee machine. Fourthly, the grind which is used and finally, the fineness of the coffee. Those are the factors that determine your strength. If you want a stronger brew, use less coffee and grind it finer. However, it is important to keep in mind that a coarse grind or a fine grind may give you different tastes.

For example, using 2 tablespoon of coffee for a 8 ounce cup of brewed java with an 8 ounce cup of coffee made with 4 tablespoons of coffee. If you are used to drinking stronger coffee, then the cup of coffee you have chosen will also contain more caffeine content.

Use 2 tablespoons of coffee beans for every cup of water. It is very important that the beans are freshly roasted. This makes a huge difference.

Grinding your coffee beans

For grinding, you need a blade coffee grinder. This is very useful for beginners. It is advisable to use a burr grinder for complex flavors. Burr grinders produce a more balanced brew. For large brews, a blade grinder is very useful. If you want to have a deep brew, use 1 to 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds for every cup of water.

Finally, take your time and enjoy your fresh brewed coffee. Make sure you choose your roast correctly, choose the type of coffee beans you like, and then start brewing. You can also experiment with the fineness of the grind. It makes a huge difference. The water should be hot enough for the coffee to dissolve completely.
